Ever fancied getting away from Dubai for a couple of hours and leaving behind the sound of Dubai with all of the hustle and bustle that goes with it? If so Al Maha may just be the place for you. Less than an hours drive away from Dubai on the road to Al Ain this desert retreat makes a fantastic getaway.
If you have visions of Al Maha only being a residential retreat, then think again – they are now taking reservations for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. And if you fancy an alcoholic drink as part of your trip, you can use the services of SafeDriver who can return you to Dubai for a very reasonable price.
Once you leave the Al Ain highway, the resort is a pleasant 15 minute drive through the desert where, if you are lucky, you can spot Oryx and Gazelles roaming wild.
Upon arrival at the resort with a fellow blogger, we sat outside on the terrace overlooking the stunning desert wilderness and we were treated to some beautifully presented food which had been pre-ordered for us based on her previous visits.
For starters we were served a very tasty crab cake which came with a delicious side salad which was dressed beautifully.
Main course consisted on two very large grilled prawns and a beautiful sauce.
I was unable to resist pudding and had the most amazing vanilla creme brulee which was deliciously creamy and rich with just a perfect indulgent texture. It was served with homemade shortbread which went with it perfectly.
Readers of my blog will know that I’m a huge coffee fan, so I chose a Latte as my final part of the meal and I wasn’t disappointed with the beautifully presented coffee which was brought out to me – it tasted every bit as good as it looked and one day soon I need to learn how to make coffee like that – on looks alone it had the “wow” factor.
