With a ton of invites in my mailbox on a daily basis, it’s always difficult to wade my way through and decide which invites I want to accept, which to decline and which to put into the “maybe sometime” pile.  Just a few weeks ago though and invite arrived that had me almost instantly saying yes, it was an invite for a curated dinner at Feast at the Sheraton Grand Hotel – a hotel which for some reason had escaped my attention although it has been opened almost five months now and upon doing some research is getting a great reputation.

The dinner was a perfect marriage between Executive Chef Malcolm Webster and Noreen Wasti who writes at NonisPlace who regularly has us drooling over the #TablePorn section of FoodeMagdxb.

This is a post that almost doesn’t need words as the images will speak for themselves, but I will say that there were a great many superb dishes to choose from and we tasted our way through a menu boasting seventeen dishes designed to showcase many of the dishes that you can choose from. Overall we had an evening of superb seafood which was innovative, fresh and beautifully presented along with a beautiful table setting which was beautifully curated to match the menu and fantastic company as the table was full of hard core food lovers from bloggers to media.

The evening was to officially launch Seafood Thursdays (details at the bottom of this post)

Smoked Salmon & Coriander

Tartare of Yellow Fin Tuna with Goat Cheese

Salmon Sashimi, Soy, Ruby Grapefruit, Peppers, Pink Peppercorns & Mache Salad

Crisp Oyster Po Boy with Asian – slaw and Miso Mayonnaise

Oysters in a half shell with Pomegranate Mignonette

Watermelon, Feta and Toasted Pumpkin Seed Salad with Mint Dressing

Lightly Smoked Sea Trout, Bone Marrow, Green Olive & Pine Nut Crust with Duck Fat Potatoes

Tagliolini with Fresh White Crab Meat & Lingotta Dehydrated Caviar

Beef Cheek, braised for 13 hours with Bone Marrow, Cucumber, Shallot & Watercress Salsa

Confit Carrots and Fennel scented with Star Anise & Cardamon, topped with Garlic Crumbs

Steamed Seasonal Vegetables Dressed with Confit Lemon and Hazelnut Vinaigrette

Ratte Potato Tatin

Salt Baked Beetroot Puree, Goat Milk Granita, Honey and Lemon

Every Thursday morning Chef Malcolm and his team head out to Deira Fish Market and personally selects the premium catch of the day.

You are then invited to choose the cooking method from around the world and view how the dish is prepared. From seafood chowder to prawns sahara, Malabar fish curry or simply king crab.

The world is your oyster on Thursdays!
