When this is your social media hashtag you have to be pretty sure that it is actually “more fun in the Philippines” !!

It’s a pretty bold statement and one that I was about to test as I, another blogger from Dubai and 4 journalists were invited to try the Philippines for ourselves on a short 7 day press trip. Our mission as a group, was to sample the best of 3 itineraries carefully put together to show case some of the bounty of experiences available to visitors to the Philippines.

For those not in the know, the Philippines is the second-largest archipelago in the world, consisting of over 7000 islands.  And for those living in Dubai it’s a mere 9.15 hour flight away !  Many of the islands boast fantastic diving and snorkelling with beautiful coral and sea life and stunning beaches (which of course I sampled for you !). Inland there are beautiful caves, rainforest, coffee plantations (yes I had to mention that !) and many other beautiful sights including fantastic waterfalls and volcanos.  Add this to some fantastic food (another hit for me), great prices and super friendly people and a great holiday destination awaits you !

Leaving Dubai on the 7.45 pm flight, with PhilippineAirlines means you can fly overnight and reach Manila (the capital) by 9 am the next day, whilst overnight flights are not always my flight of choice, I must admit that flying in Premium Economy gave us plenty of leg room, use of a mini iPad as an entertainment system and a lovely meal and I managed to sleep for some of the flight too !  Our return flight leaving at 1pm arrived back at 6pm allowing time to fly back to Manila from our tropical island before our flight back – but more of that in another post.

It’s almost impossible to write about the Philipppines without making it quite a picture heavy post as frankly there are so many visual treats to enjoy.  So before I write my more detailed posts (of which there will be a few)  here are a few teasers for you.

  • Yes the hashtag works !!  #ItsmorefuninthePhilippines !
  • More fun than I had imagined it could be
  • More beautiful than I had imagined it could be and
  • Much more affordable than I had imagined it could be
  • It’s on my list of places to return and to return to soon, but for longer next time as there is so much to do.

So here are some teaser photos ! Enjoy !!
