As part of being an Ambassador for Le Méridien Dubai Hotel here in Dubai I was given the opportunity to dine in 4 different restaurants during the month of May. A few of the other Ambassadors had already dined in this new bistro and loved the food so of course I had to go and check it out for myself.

I love eating seafood though must confess I don’t cook it anywhere as often as I should do so this was the perfect opportunity to try out one of Le Méridien’s newest dining venues.

Each of the dining experiences I do at  Le Méridien Dubai as an Ambassador have a theme and this one was that the guests invited were my ‘fit ladies’.  These are some of my twitter followers who are into healthy living and exercise as a regular part of their lives.  So with this in mind, I thought M’s Seafood Bistro would be a perfect setting for dinner.

Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive we took advantage of scanning the wine list which was displayed on an iPad – which is a lovely touch and so user friendly.  We also nibbled (ok munched!) on some lovely crisp garlic bread with a tasty creamy dipping sauce.

When everyone arrived we got straight to business and perused the menu and started our evening off with some lovely chilled Prosecco which went down very well.

Conversation flowed easily during our evening as it usually does when a bunch of ladies get together!  Topics were varied and interesting and the best bit is that we all agreed that we would form a ‘fit ladies’ team and enter the Wadi Bi Run ** next year which will be a great opportunity for us to train and run together and no doubt eat together too !

As the discussion flowed so our starters arrived.  I chose the salmon platter which came with squid ink bread and was presented beautifully and was a nice light start to my meal.  Other starters included the warm lobster salad which looked beautiful and was described as ‘melting in the mouth’.  Shrimp cocktail  described as ‘amazing and with shrimp that were ‘impossibly fresh’!  and finally Oysters which looked beautiful and my guest who described them as  ‘fresh and perfect taste of the sea’

Service at the restaurant was impeccable and the staff were highly attentive throughout the meal without being intrusive.  Our main course arrived with a flair as a small cooking station was set up next to our table so that my lobster thermidor could be cooked at the side of the table which was a lovely touch and provided an element of table entertainment.

My lobster thermidor was just how it should be, beautifully presented, tender and succulent and yet also sweet , juicy and rich – it was stunning  Two of my guests chose the John Dory with spinach and lobster sauce which they described as having a beautiful sweet taste, although one of them would have preferred it to be served without the skin as she lost a lot of the lobster sauce by removing it. and said she preferred her starter of warm lobster salad over the main.  My final guest chose the Paella which was great but a tad too creamy for her taste.

Towards the end of the evening a couple of us were tempted with the pudding menu.  My ‘partner in crime’ chose the Creme Brulee which she said was lovely whilst I, a sucker for dessert, chose Ice-cream with Baileys – which whilst it did not look stunning – it tasted great – who can resist Baileys ? not me !

We had a great evening, I must admit I didn’t realise that M’s Seafood Bistro existed until recently, but will definitely go back.  One of my guests scored it as 10/10 and said she couldn’t fault them whilst another commented on Le Meridien’s fabulous marketing and said she will definitely add them to her list of places to go – who could ask for more ?

The run starts and finishes in Dibba, Sultanate of Oman. Next race is on 8th Feb 2013 (Watch this blog for more info !)
