It’s that time of year when most of us have visitors staying with us and are looking for new ways of entertaining them or giving them a new view of Dubai.  With this in mind I booked a table for afternoon tea on Bateaux Dubai which departs daily from it’s spot on the Creek in front of the British Embassy.

My guests love the creek so adding afternoon tea to one of their favorite trips made perfect sense and I was lucky enough to benefit from a voucher deal with TimeOut too.

Once boarded we were offered a selection of teas and coffees and then presented with a 3 tier stand which was full of lovely afternoon treats varying from sandwiches and mini rolls, scones, jam and cream, delicate slices of cake, berries & cream and homemade pizza.

This in itself would have been plenty, but we were also presented with a further plate of treats including macaroons & other sweet treats including white chocolate – for which I have a soft spot ! (this plate- my guests learned – was NOT for sharing !!).

As we settled down to tasting the the various delights on offer, we set sail promptly at 3.30 pm and headed on a short but interesting trip along the creek and back which lasted 45 minutes and gave us plenty of time to eat plenty and have a few refills of tea and coffee along the way.

Service during the trip was very attentive, our waiter, Shoubit, could not have been more polite and helpful.

The food was lovely with plenty of choice for everyone. My guests eagerly tasted everything whilst I saved my appetite for a few selected treats glad that I had burnt off some calories prior to the trip at a Club Energize exercise class that morning (see my previous post).

The scones and clotted cream were a highlight for me – I’m a sucker for traditional scones with jam & cream and the plate of macaroons and other treats (another of my favorites) was just perfect and was reluctantly shared !

We left the boat leaving only crumbs on the plates and with my guests vowing that they will come back again which is always a great compliment.

Thanks to Shoubit our attentive waiter and to everyone working aboard Bateaux Dubai, we had a great afternoon.

Afternoon tea costs 150AED per person though it’s worth checking to see if there are any special deals in place.
